This paper takes a newly built primary school campus in Shenyang area as an example. By conducting annual energy consumption simulation and load calculation, the heating load characteristics of the primary school campus throughout the year are determined. The least squares method is used to obtain the relationship function between the performance parameters of an air-source heat pump from a certain manufacturer and the outdoor temperature and water supply temperature. Based on this, a comparative analysis is conducted on the total life cycle cost and annual carbon emissions of the air-source heat pump operating in combination with an electric boiler and a gas boiler, respectively. The analysis shows that primary and secondary schools in Shenyang that adopt intermittent heating methods can adopt a scheme combining the operation of a two-stage compression air-source heat pump and a gas boiler as an auxiliary heat source. The air-source heat pump unit can be equipped according to 51.5% of the calculated heating load, and the gas boiler auxiliary heat source can be equipped according to 48.5% of the calculated heating load.
